For Tha Love Of

What does love mean to you? We all have our very own interpretation of what the 4-letter word means. Some may say it's the sacrifice amongst one another. Others may say, it depends on what you've done with a person. In this episode, we breakdown the different meaning of love that fits with us and our current relationships. Love is an up-hill battle. It's a rollercoaster. It's clean. It's dirty. It's ups. And it's downs. Whatever love means to you, there's not one definition. 

Drugs have been around for years - even before our time. People have consumed different types of drugs based on personal or lifestyle choices. As technology and media have progressed, millennials are more accessible to seeing drugs; whether it's in music videos, school assignments or the environment you're around. In today's episode, we will discuss drug use on college campuses. Studies have shown that most millennials consume drugs while attending or post college. These drugs vary from cocaine to weed. Doesn't matter what the drug is, we're speaking on it.

Do you read for fun or just for class? Are you more of a comic book or magazine reader? Whatever you decide to read, just make sure you can take something away from it. As the culture progresses, celebrities that we idealize are creating strong content that is relatable to our self growth, experience and life.  We've often been told that reading is fundamental. However, at a young age we are forced to read material that we don't like or can relate to. This leads to having a negative outlook on reading and negating core takeaways from reading. In this episode, we discuss the powerful effects reading has in our community today. Whether it's from people that look just like us or look up to - it's very imperative to connect to literature that allows us to think outside the box. 

What is the definition of culture to you? With time, Buffalo State has been considered to be the "SUNY HBCU". However, the state of the campus has transitioned for the worse. In this episode, we tackle the on-going topic of obtaining the student life experience at Buffalo State. From the jammed packed Bengal pauses to the diminishing of black and brown presence on campus with students and faculty. We get a student perspective by having Gaelle Jean-Baptiste, USG President, as she answers some challenging questions while serving as the face for current students. 

As millennials, you have distorted the term "dating" to "talking". As well as, changing the narrative of what it means to be in a relationship and the true values of being in love. Back in the day, we loved the idea of dating and what it meant to build a foundation in hopes of honing a relationship. In this episode, we break down the urban term of "talking" and get to the bottom of claiming you speak to someone to just smashing. 

In this episode, we tackle the cliff hanger from SZN 1 about Greek life - the process, the institutions and its dying culture. We also tap into interracial dating amongst our brown kings and queens. To some, this is taken as a set back within our culture and background. And to others, it's not an issue. Have you ever dated outside of your race? Do you think other races find you attractive? Do you think they're intimidated by the color of your skin?

On the season finale, we are giving you what you want. Family, you've been inquiring all season about that touchy, gritty, raw topic of Greek life; it's finally here. We are tackling the ins and the outs about Greek life on and off campus. Along with touching on some issues that have happened in the media in regards to our organizations and clubs. Nothing more to say - here it is folks!

In America, we are often put into a box by the type of "African American" that we classify to be. But didn't we all come from Africa? Why is it that we, as people of color, discriminate and bring down other folks that look like us? In this episode, we break down the diaspora of our people and the parts of the world we come from. It doesn't matter if you're Caribbean, Pan-African or simply "American", we all bleed the same color. 

Education is the key of knowledge. However, has the government brainwashed us to think more of the financial aspect for furthering our education? Are you, as students, being exposed to post graduate opportunities? Do you think you have done all that you could for the road to graduation? Is your refund check "lit"? In this episode, we will break down the beginning, middle and end of your undergraduate experience. We will share our different steps making it to college and how to deal with all of the aftermath. And we can' t forget about loans, loans, loans.

Oh, how has society changed. The evolution of man and woman have evolved in ways that sparks the idealistic roles within the community. Some men believe that they have been programmed to naturally be the bread winner, not in 2019. In this episode, we will talk about the castration of the "black" men, rising of our Queen's and the depiction of interracial couples. We discuss an audio clip on Dr. Umar Johnson as he breaks it down for us when it comes to identification of roles with our people.  As you're listening, we want you to ask yourself a few questions: 1. What does the "black love" look like? 2. Are you willing to uplift and stick with your Queen if she's the bread winner? 3. Do you believe that your marriage tells a lot about your morals and values?

Are you in a student organization? Do you feel like your org is the best? We are here to nip your thoughts in a bud about being a student leader on campus. It's not about who's more "lit" on campus, but about the impact you create within your collegiate community. In this episode, we highlight important aspects when being involved in campus. We are here to tell the truth and how we truly feel about all that's going on within our student leaders. We are NOT here to shine negative light on what is done within an org, but to share how you can improve your content and your audience.

As African Americans, we are constantly fighting. We're constantly fighting the battle for being the "angry black woman" or "angry black students". In this episode, we discuss the daily fight of living in this community. From slavery, to share cropping, we have been going to work to fight the fight. Why are we still fighting years later?

You young kats know nothing about love. Today, millennials have twisted and defamed the true meaning of what it means to be in an union. Love is supposed to be something developed from learning and growing with someone that you can potentially build with to form a family. In this episode, we discuss our views on relationships and situationships. We explain why they fail, last and everything in between. You want options, and we get it. 

Mentorship goes a long way when you have someone that you can turn to for entrepreneurial and academic advice. However, it is not something that can be forced or asked upon. Obtaining a mentor that can devote time in you to develop your craft can potentially improve your way of thinking and self development. As millennials, you guys observe news on social media platforms. But, is the news that you're consuming have a purpose to your way of living and thought processes. 

As young folks, you all believe that you know what's truly best for you. Or, think you know it all. Especially when it comes to this thing we all call love. The perception of love has evolved overtime due to generational changes. Millennials use love as a game. You think you know love is, but do you? Do you believe in the myths behind Valentine's Day? Is it the women's holiday? Was this the year for the fellas? In this episode, we discuss our personal views on Cupid's holiday, being boo'd up and society's take on capitalizing off of us.
