Music for the soul: Pt. Ravi Shankar - Dec 16, 2012
05/08/2013 Duração: 01h01min"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music" - Aldous Huxley This week has been a particularly sad one because of the unfortunate events of violence in the Connecticut elementary school. Our heart goes for the victims and their families. Our deepest condolences. In today’s show let us soothe our souls and ponder over a little with the life and music of sitar maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar. Pt. Ravi Shankar has been attributed with introducing Indian classical music to the western world. He created great music with stalwarts of Indian music Ustad Allah Rakha Khan, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and many more. He also collaborated with and inspired great western musicians like Yehudi Menuhin, George Harrison, Philip Glass and John Coltrane. He left behind a legacy of music which will be cherished and remembered by the generations to come. May his soul rest in peace.

Tribute to the Delhi Victim - Dec 30, 2012
05/08/2013 Duração: 58minIt is customary for any radio or TV show to have their last show of the year end on a jubilant note, but the last few weeks have shown the world that the humans are far from being called civilized. This week, the brave 23 year old girl from New Delhi who was brutally assaulted and gang raped, died on 12/29. We pay tribute to her courage and would like to dedicate this program to condemn the violence against women. The world did not come to an end in 2012 but the mass shooting in Newtown, the death of the girl in Delhi and so many similar incidents which go unreported tell us that we still have a long way to go before there is no hatred or violence in the world. We hope and pray that the new year brings us a more peaceful world. “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Mahatma Gandhi With this sentiment, in this show we play music to pay tribute to Delhi victim.
