In this episode, Robert welcomes Lylla Younes, senior staff writer at Grist on to the the podcast. Grist is a nonprofit, independent media organization dedicated to telling stories of climate solutions and a just future. Here Lylla covers environmental investigations and environmental justice. She was previously a reporter and developer at ProPublica, where her work mapping cancer-causing industrial pollution in Louisiana helped lead to the suspension of Formosa Plastic's permit in St. James Parish, and won the 2020 Nina Mason Pulliam Award for Outstanding Environmental Reporting. In 2020, she was part of a team that wrote a peer-reviewed paper linking COVID deaths to air pollution. In this episode Robert and Lylla discuss a wide range of topics and some of her her articles, including how Berkeley became the first city in the United States to ban natural, fossil gas hook-ups in new buildings.

On the podcast today is first-time guest and Ford CEO, Jim Farley. Prior to joining Ford in 2007, Farley was group vice president and general manager of Lexus, and the group vice president responsible for all Toyota Division market planning, advertising and merchandising Under Farley's leadership, Ford has boosted investment in electric vehicles to more than $50 billion and has set ambitious targets for scaling their production to 600,000 EVs a year by the end of 2023 and more than 2 million by the end of 2026. Recorded over Zoom at the FC North show in Harrogate, Robert and Jim pull the curtain back and talk EV software, electric transits, battery plants, how the Prius came to be and more. 

On today's podcast, recorded at the first FC North event (And yes, Harrogate is in the north) is returning guest, Roger Atkins. Roger is one of the most informed speakers working today having spent 15 years around EVs and 38 years total in the automobile industry. Roger is also the founder of Electric Vehicles Outlook LTD. As a "Top Voice" on Linkedin, he boasts 300,000 followers and his material attracts over 1 million views every quarter. On the last day of the show, Roger and Robert lock in to talk about everything from the Chinese EV industry to trawling the seabed to the origins in Scrapheap Challenge to well, dog poop. In this episode, Robert talks about some current news stories floating around the internet, He discusses the UK's charging infrastructure on target for 2030, Lithium exports from Australian, new Toyota Evs and there's a particular amazing rant about an article claiming that heavy electric cars going to make old weather worn multi-story car parks collapse. Hmmm, Robert doesn't quite agree. Largely because on the whole, they are significantly lighter!    

Gill Nowell & Alexandra H-C Borgnis sit down with Robert at Fully Charged Live to chat about the task of getting as many people to drive electric as possible by 2030.  In April 2021 Gill was celebrated as one of the Top Women in EV for policy and campaigning. In June 2020, she was selected as one of the Women's Engineering Society (WES) Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) 2020: Sustainability, and is a regular speaker and panellist on electric vehicles and data-driven transition to net zero. Alex is a leader with over a decade's worth of Personal Lines experience, having worked across all channels managing both standard and non-standard business. She currently looks after the Motor Underwriting team at LV= GI having recently moved from DLG where she held a Senior Underwriting Management role.

Robert is joined this week by Andreas Wallendahl, co-founder and COO of Tenet (not the confusing film). Tenet is a company that finance the purchase of new or used EVs. After coming to the US from the UK to study at MIT Andreas settled in New York. Inspired by advancements in battery technologies, he set up Tenet with Stanford alumni Alex Liegl in 2021 and they have made huge steps within the US EV sector, which includes making the most of US citizen's federal tax credits. As a result, Tenet can cut hundreds of dollars of a typical price, with the option to buy or trade vehicles. The US may not quite be Norway just yet in terms of EVs on the roads, but Andreas believes companies like Tenet can really make a real difference in EV adoption and the numbers increasing, especially in more clean tech receptive states like New York and California.

In this special episode, Ricky Roy and Elliot Richards take over the pod in a Rivian R1T at the Fully Charged Live show in Farnborough. The guys go deep on what US and Chinese car brands they love but also their gripes, and also which ones may have trouble transitioning markets in the future. Robert is joined this week by Eytan Lenko, technology entrepreneur, philanthropist and investor focused on climate solutions and CEO of Boundless Earth. Taking Robert through the reasons why he sees Australia becoming a global energy superpower by 2030, Eytan also reveals his tech development approach to problems and business growth. Prior to joining Boundless Earth, Eytan was Chair of the internationally-recognised think-tank Beyond Zero Emissions. Eytan started his career in tech, including as co-founder and CEO of Outware Mobile, growing Outware to become the recognised Australian leader in mobile software development.

Robert is joined this week by Professor Ray Wills, futurist, consultant and academic, who's current research interests include adoption rates and convergence of technology, disruptive tech including solar and storage, electric cars, mobility, and robotics, and the communities that rely on them, and the impact of social media on markets. Dr. O'Connor leverages years of experience working on sustainable technology in many of America's top research labs, where she helped develop the electro-extraction processes she and her team are commercializing at Nth Cycle. Prior to founding Nth Cycle, Dr. O'Connor was an Entrepreneurial Fellow in the Innovation Crossroads program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and was a visiting researcher at Yale University's Center for Green Chemistry & Green Engineering. Dr. O'Connor received her PhD in environmental engineering from Duke University and was recognized by Forbes on its "30 under 30" energy list in 2019.

Robert is joined this week by The Fully Charged Show's CEO Dan Caesar to discuss what they both agree was "the best presentation ever given by Tesla!". Unveiled at a recent investor day at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, and subsequently shared globally, Tesla's Masterplan pt 3 outlined, amongst other key themes, their far reaching plans for a 'fully sustainable Earth'. Both concluding that it was 4 hours well spent, Dan and Robert pick through some of the highlights of the presentation and what that means for the global energy transition.

With many years experience as an engineer in the renewable energy sector, especially wind turbines, Rosie takes Robert through her journey, and the development and growth of wind turbines as a viable solution for creating long lasting and reliable clean energy.
