    Send a textOn this episode of Living Real we experience the wisdom of priest/preacher, Monsignor Ray East. Msgr is the son of the late Thomas and Gwendolyn East. The grandson of Baptist missionaries to South Africa, he was born in Newark, New Jersey. Raised in San Diego, he graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Administration. His position with the National Association of Minority Contractors brought him to Washington, DC where he later experienced a call to the priesthood and was ordained in 1981 by Cardinal Hickey. He currently serves as Pastor at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in the District of Columbia, Archdiocese of Washington. Sister Bowman, a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration and noted educator and evangelist, was a prophetic witness to the Black American Catholic experience and worked to break down racial and cultural barriers. Sister Thea is one of six Black American Catholics on the journey to Sainthood.

    Send a textOctober 13, 1917 is reported to be the last of the Virgin Mary's 6 appearances to three shepherd children, Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto  in Fatima, Portugal. The event was punctuated by what is known as the Fatima Miracle or Miracle of the Sun witnessed by 30,000 to possibly as many as 100,000 people, including quite a few skeptics. Angie Gillette, Dianne Estopinal and Edme Mendez, organizers of a public square Rosary commemorating the miracle, share the history of the event and what it means to them.
