Drunk On Lettering

You guys!! We got to interview Jenn Gietzen of Write On! Design!!! She's a bad ass letterer out of ATL and we had so much fun chatting with her! She's a killer business lady with a love for wine. We talk with her about strippers, Snapchat, copy cats, favorite letters, lettering pet peeves, etc. etc. etc. It's a goodie!

Joseph Alessio is an insanely talented letterer who is constantly changing up his mediums and making lettering out of all kinds of objects! We were so excited to hear more about how he comes up with his projects and the tools he uses. We got verrrrry silly with Jo Jo and he rolled with all the punches!

We've been so inspired by Annica, aka Dirty Bandits, for so long, so we were really excited to get her on the podcast! We got to find out some insight on some of her big projects, how she got into sign painting, and what she's up to now that she's back in NY! She's a bad ass designer and we love everything she puts out! This is an informative episode with lots of inspiration!

Holy moly, kids! We are so stoked that we got to interview the super sweet, super talented Scott Biersack! You've totally seen his work and might know him as YOUBRINGFIRE! We loved chatting with him (even though he doesn't like cheese :( :( :( ) and learning about how he got into the whole lettering thang! We talked about his love of going to school forever, the type program at Cooper, his diet, and peach tea! It's an informative one, check it out people!

Jimbo Bernaus Skypes us all the way from Croatia to tell us about his beautiful lettering! We sipped on mimosas and chatted with him about travel, design, his process, cheese, booze, etc. etc. etc. Jimbo is super talented with his colorful, whimsical lettering work and we loved chatting with him!

El Juantastico Skypes with us all the way from M-I-A to tell us all about his super detailed, bright lettering pieces! He tells us the secrets to a happy marriage, his secret techniques to make his sharpies not streaky...basically he tells us all his secrets! We learned a lot from him and had a great time talking with him!

Yoo world! We recently went to the all gals conference in Palm Spring called Designer Vaca! It was an inspiring and relaxing few days filled with lots of booze and girl bonding. We had the pleasure of rooming with LA based designers Amy and Aimee! Night two we got drunk and....recorded a bonus episode!! Hear a little bit about our experience at Designer Vaca and the usual silly topics!

The "King of Lip Syncing", Dan Lee, aka @dandrawnwords, joins us this week to talk about chemical engineering, his iPad, how he produces so much work, aliens, and of course gives us some tips for lip syncing. If you haven't seen his work, wtf are you doing?! We had so much fun talking with him, asking him ridiculous questions, and learning about his process!

Our dreams came true...we got Ben Johnston on the podcast!! If you haven't seen his lettering, designs, or murals--wtf are you doing with your life?! He's such an inspiration and was so much fun to talk to. We learn all about his background, process for muraling, life in Canada, dating, and of course his cheese prefrence.

Joshua Phillips is one of the sweetest people we've ever had on the show! He was totally transparent about his process, tools, dealing with clients, cheese, and all our silly questions! He also gave us the scoop on his upcoming Skillshare class so make sure you take it! He's a talented dude so make sure you follow his work, @joshuaphillips_!

This week we virtually cross the pond and Skype it up with Britain's own, theaboarddude, aka Joshua Harris! We discuss menu boards, politics, travel, and dating of course. Not only is he a killer menu board/chalk board/whatever board artist...he also doubles as a pun enthusiast. Watch out Will Pay!

We got drunk and interviewed the one and only, @efdot! AKA Eric Friedensohn. He's a talented letterer, designer, and illustrator from New York with some pretty silly voices that we were able to pull out of him. We had a blast getting to know a little bit about the personality behind his work! And we get a special guest appearance from our favorite hipster, Will Pay!!

Oh you guys...we love Anna, aka xheart! She was such a sweetheart and so much fun to talk to. We talk about her love of sign painting, her mural projects, and of course the Bachelor, all while Anna did some shots!

This is our first ever in-person interview! We traveled up to LA to hang out with Lauren Hom (@homsweethom)and hear what she had to say about the lettering and design world. As per usual we discuss her background, how she got to where she is, where she wants to be, and her dating adventures along the way.

We accidentally drank way too much wine and got distracted and forgot to ask Lisa all of the questions we had for her! But regardless, Lisa is such a sweet, talented, fun letterer and we got to know a bit about her and laugh a lot! We get some special appearances from Roxy's mom and sis.

Ohhhhh shit this week we interview our BIGGEST guest ever!! And by biggest we mean tallest, it's itsaliving AKA Ricardo! He's a talented letterer from Mexico living in New York and we hear all about his background and what he's up to these days. We also get a special guest appearance from his roommate who is a typeface designer and possibly our new intern, Miguel! #itsadrinking

This little bonus episode is just a little recap of what we've been doing since we've been podcasting! We talk about our favorite episodes, our experiences in freelance design, and what's going on in our personal lives. All while drinking lots of wine! Make sure to send us questions! Jenna from Vichcraft is such a girl boss and was so fun to talk to! We learned all about her background, past jobs, and how she started her business! She's killing it in Chicago and it was a pleasure to speak to her and learn about her kick ass business! Girls to the front!

This is a special, extra long episode with the super talented, Nim (@nim_br), and his cardboard side kick!! If you've seen his work, you know he likes to make fun of the cliches of hand lettering (in the most beautiful way possible). We find out about his process, background, hopes, dreams, fears, and why he is the way he is. This is an extra giggly/silly one, people!!

Maggie (@littlepatterns) joins us this week on Drunk on Lettering. She is known for her amazingly detailed work and recent collaboration with Apple. Not only is she well versed in the design and illustration world, but girlfriend can play the harmonica too! If there is ever a time to skip ahead, it's to the end, because things get "cray".
