Podcast 206: Taking Swings, Dodging Bols
21/06/2019 Duração: 01h19minWhew. That was a close one. Almost lost EvilGenius who pledged to ghost this team if they ended up with Bol Bol. Fortunately for us, the Cavs passed. Bol ended up lasting until the 44th pick, when the Nuggets traded with the Heat to grab the oddly proportioned human. After the 26th pick, the Cavs followed up their selection of Darius Garland at No. 5 by selecting Dylan Windler of Belmont. During the pod, they surprised us all by trading back into the first round and grabbing Kevin Porter Jr. from USC, who'd been rumored to the Cavs as early as the late lotter. Nate Smith, Evil Genius, Eli Kim, and Tom Pestak all squeezed into the podcast booth for a draft pod, and broke down all the Cavs' big swings: the pros and cons of Darius Garland (and his Jedi Robes), the surprise of J.R. Smith being moved on draft night, and the Cavs' and the NBA's focus on shooting. Then we picked the biggest winners and losers of draft night. Winners included Atlanta, Memphis, Cam Johnson, and definitely New Orleans.

205: Dark Knight Endgame
29/05/2019 Duração: 01h18minNot a ton happening with the Cavs as we careen into The Finals, but that doesn't mean there aren't interesting things to talk about happening around the Association. So, if you'll forgive our Memorial Day weekend coverage lapse, as we spent more time hanging with our respective families in lieu of deep dive profiles into upcoming draft prospects, hopefully you'll enjoy some humorous deviations. Nate and EG hung out for a spell in the podcast booth to muse a bit about the draft, reflect on a wild Eastern Conference Finals, discuss potential Finals outcomes... and, of course dish gleefully about Rob Pelinka's Dark Knight of the soul and dig through the newest layers of the raging dumpster fire that is the Los Angeles Laker franchise. We also finally have a long chat about Avengers: Endgame and a bit of Game of Thrones finale to boot... Spoilers Ahead!!!Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

204: Ping Pong Balls, Hotcakes, & Beelines to Hot Takes
15/05/2019 Duração: 01h54minWell... the Cavaliers weren't able to pull off another NBA Lottery bonanza tonight... in fact, they fell all the way to fifth behind the Pelicans, Grizzlies, Knicks and Lakers. Whether you believe in karma or conspiracy theories, in the end it looks like New Orleans got a potential lifeline back to relevancy as the almost assuredly winner of the Zion Williamson sweepstakes. Yet, there may still be some sneaky good talent available in the five hole for newly minted head coach, John Beilien to impart wisdom to this summer. To recap all of the Lottery shenanigans, as well as weigh in on the surprising and polarizing coaching hire, we jammed the podcast booth with three old men, your favorite millenial and his frisky, stereo-tipping canine. We fogged the glass for hours (we had a lot to cover), debating top five mock drafts, throwing down over the projections for Zion's career, mixing it up over the coaching decision and much, much, much more. In a pod that easily went to four overtimes, EG relates his ep

203: Dunking all over the Playoffs
03/05/2019 Duração: 01h26minNate Smith and David Wood had a much needed reunion in the pod booth. There isn't much going on as far as the Cavs are concerned, so they hopped around the league. They went into James Harden's foul seeking Rockets and how their methods make them feel. They talked about the twiggy stature of this years draft class and their favorite players: De'Andre Hunter and Brandon Clarke. From there they hit on whether or not college players should be getting paid. And, as if that last topic wasn't hot enough for you, they tackled a real dividing question: Who is the tallest player in the NBA who can't Dunk. They might not know the real answer, but they know the heart and soul of the no-dunking team is Raymond Felton..... Because if he could, there would be new rims left in the league. Of course, there's NBA playoff talk too. Speaking of not dunking? Why is it that Kyle Lowry seems to be a no-show every year? Can the 76ers real do some damage? Will anyone challenge the Warriors in the West and the

202: First Round of the Off Season
26/04/2019 Duração: 01h04minBecause they generally have nothing better to do on a Thursday night in late April... Nate and EG hung out in the podcast booth tonight to catch up. We spend some time touching on the NFL Draft (which the Browns aren't expected to participate in until tomorrow), recapping the first round matchups (that neither of us watched all that much of), keeping tabs on the Cavs' coaching search, and projecting where the league is headed with an increase of lawyer ball, 37 foot daggers, social media beefs and decreased viewer ratings. It's a remarkably short (for us anyway) podcast, but we promise more to come in the next few weeks.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Podcast 201: Who's In Charge?
19/04/2019 Duração: 01h40minIt's a strangely unfamiliar time right now for Cavs fans. With the regular season behind us, the draft ahead, and maybe only passing interest in this year's first round playoff matchups, it's time to wonder who exactly is in charge? The wine & gold don't seem to be in any hurry to hire their next leader, now that they've parted ways with Larry Drew... though, maybe it could be a former leader of the Charge? Meanwhile, over in Lakerland... is anyone calling the shots now that the Magic is gone? Or, are they just going to make the inevitable Ty Lue hire and hand the reins to LeBron? Full disclosure... we spend waaaaay too much time discussing the purple & gold. Who's in charge here anyway?! To decipher those things, Nate, Mike and EG hopped into the podcast booth tonight for a spell. We prod through the rumors and purported truths of coaching searches, impending free agency moves, organizational directions, the already weird post season and much much more. Oh, and Nate finally g

Episode 200: Rocketing to Retirement
10/04/2019 Duração: 01h47minWelcome to CtB's 200th podcast! On Channing Frye's last night as a Cavalier, in the last quarter of the last game of the season, the smiling big man fired off one last flurry of fireworks... scoring 10 points in just seven minutes. He left the court to chants of "MVP! MVP!" from the adoring crowd at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (ay yay yay). The Cavs still lost by a wide margin, but you'd never guess given the rousing ovations bestowed upon Frye and his teammates.Quicken Loans Arena To recap Channing's launch into retirement, Nate and EG fired up the podcast rocket and climbed inside. We don't just stop at his retirement celebration, but span the rest of the NBA to hit the DWade parade of long goodbyes in South Beach and the sudden (yet pretty expected and classy) Dirk Nowitski sayonara in Dallas. We also shoot over to Los Angeles where Magic hit the ejector seat button without apparently telling anyone... including LeBron, and examine the nearly final playoff picture. Stick aro

Episode 199: The Winter Soldier
05/04/2019 Duração: 01h42minThe Cavs may have lost a meaningless game in April, but the real story of the night was that Nate and EG were able to defrost C:tB's "Winter Soldier" for an appearance on this latest podcap. Yes, Tom Pestak returns from his deep, frozen slumber to catch up on all the goings on from this past winter of NBA action. We pick up during the second half of this Cavs continued tank-a-thon, comment on the game, bounce around the NBA to forecast some potential summer moves, and break the news to Tom that Jimmer Fredette is in fact once again a member of the League. Though we'll have to wait for another day to hear TP's rants about the Real Estate Mafia in Dayton... Nate and EG filled up the remaining time discussing who might or might not be suiting up in the wine & gold next season.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 198: Measuring Up
21/03/2019 Duração: 01h41minThe Cavs had another growth spurt as they inched closer to respectability with an entertaining victory over the team with the best record in the NBA tonight. Granted, the Milwaukee Bucks were sans their Alpha and Omega, Giannis Antetokounmpo, yet the wine & gold still did what the purple & gold couldn't the night before. For once, the Cavs were the healthier team, as Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance, Jr. were all back on the floor... while the Bucks were down to just eight able bodies. Still, it was their fourth straight win at home over a team that's either in or just on the fringe of being in the playoffs. To give some context on where these young Cavaliers are and how they stack up vs. expectations, Nate and EG hopped in the booth for a few measures of time. We got out the yardstick for the Young Bull and his new Cavs rookie record for most consecutive 23 game performances, used a compass and protractor to fully appreciate how well this squad are running their fast break

Episode 197: Two for Tuesday Part Two
13/03/2019 Duração: 01h30minYes, you'll get double your pleasure on this podcap, as we celebrate the Sunday Cavs victory against the Toronto Raptors... and the very close loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on the second night of a back-to-back. The Cavs gave the Raptors everything they could handle (and more) the night before, and though they dug themselves a hole against the Sixers, fought back until the end... even though they were woefully shorthanded.Nate and EG pulled some double duty in the booth, recapping both contests and highlighting the action. We cover the steady growth and improvement of the youngsters, the impact of Kevin Love, and the general camaraderie and inherent likability of this current incarnation of the squad. We also kick off the pod with a quick foray into the big Tuesday the crosstown Browns had for themselves, and end it as always with some pitches on new entertaining movies and music you might want to investigate.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/

Episode 196: The Prodigal Son Buys a Sweater
06/03/2019 Duração: 02h04minA rare colorful treat awaits you with this latest podcast. Tom Pestak returns to spin yarns about the trials and travails of his recent move, his water battles with his new city and the benefits of owning a table saw and lots of white paneling. Nate and EG joined the Prodigal Pestak Podsmith in the booth to help catch Tom up on what's been happening with the Cavs and around the Association. We touch on the two most prominent former Cavs, cover their respective currently ugly situations (but still not as ugly as the pictured sweater), and debate the playoff scenarios as we hit the home stretch of the regular season. Don't forget to stick around for Tom's latest string of epic domestic sagas... as well as our journey down the Lids.com rabbit hole of cheap hats and ugly bluetooth apparel...Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 195: One and Done?
22/02/2019 Duração: 01h39minNate and EG went one-on-one in the podcast booth. We not only break down how the Cavs won, but we review all-star weekend, and have a spirited debate about the current basketball debate over the collegiate "one and done" rule. We also touch on one LeBron James and whether or not his Laker team is already done for the postseason. Oh, and a bonus prediction on which one film will win Best Picture when it's all said and done.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 194: Winning the Battle... Losing the War
12/02/2019 Duração: 01h46minWell, the Cavs effectively shot the Knicks into last place by themselves tonight, rolling out to as much as a 17 point lead against their tanking brethren before nearly sliding back into a late tie. Fortunately, Cleveland had Larry Nance, Jr. leading the charge with his sixth straight double double (including a career high 10 offensive rebounds), and got some terrific support early from a rejuvenated Kevin Love and newly acquired guns in Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss. The Cavs ultimately notched their first wire-to-wire victory of the season, running over the Knicks for their franchise worst 17th loss in a row. Question is... what did it cost in ping-pong balls this summer? To break down this hotly contested (an often not-so-pretty) tank battle, Nate and EG climbed into the podcast hatch and swung the turret around to fire on it and many other topics. We set our sights on the post-trade deadline market, track the ongoing Lakers drama, go deep in the mud on player movement and even bring out the big guns o

Episode 193: Riding the Youngbull
06/02/2019 Duração: 01h29minIt's been an up and down season for Cavs fans, but it's always exciting to see progress from young players... even in a losing effort. Down a couple more hombres, with Rodney Hood gone in a trade to Portland and Cedi Osman out with an ankle sprain, the Cavaliers rode their Young Bull for the first three quarters of their contest against the Boston Celtics. For a change, Collin Sexton looked less like a mechanical bull, and more like a fast and dangerous real life one right out of the chute. The rookie changed speeds and got to the rack with gusto, scoring 27 points (two off his career high). He faded in the fourth, going 0-6 after an 11-18 showing beforehand, but the Cavs almost stole it anyway behind The Bandit (Alec Burks) possible farewell performance for the wine & gold.Nate and EG hung on well past their initial 8 seconds, spending 90 minutes breaking down this one, and then riding on to a variety of other topics. They cover the Lakers getting an epic goring from the Pacers, the absolute rope

Episode 192: 2for Tuesdays
30/01/2019 Duração: 01h32minNate and EG formed a dynamic duo (or tried to at least), and hopped in the booth to break down this exciting game, and the current two game surge. We cover the Cavs current rising stars, their bobbling rookie, some old Cavs who nearly brought Washington all the way back, and some other old Cavs who might just be reuniting someday in another city. Not to mention, we spent a long time furrowing our brows about the whole AD situation. Epsiode 191: Too Many Blows
10/01/2019 Duração: 01h36minNate and EG whistled their way into the booth to discuss this latest loss, the positive things that might be gleaned from it going forward, and why it seems like Cavs games are so poorly officiated this year. We take a deeper dive into the whole McCaw situation, contemplate the complicated legacy of Dan Gilbert, examine the hazards of tanking under the new lottery rules, and much, much more. Stick around for the end since Nate finally finished Bird Box.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 190: Don't Take off Your Blindfolds!
03/01/2019 Duração: 01h35minNate and EG stumbled blindly into the bird box… er, podcast booth to hash out this latest loss (a season high seventh in a row). We debated the eye test on everything from Cavs big men to Collin Sexton, Luka Doncic and the rest of this rookie class. We also chose to believe little of what we heard and only half of what we’ve seen on topics like Kevin Love trade rumors and LeBron’s birthday/Christmas present to himself of G.O.A.T. status. So, blindfolds on… and enjoy an hour or two of the first C:tB pod of 2019… with no birds, and only a smidgen of fake news ;)Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 189: Bucked
11/12/2018 Duração: 02h26sNate and EG trotted into the booth for a recapping this game and a few of the others leading up to it. We spent some time discussing the rookie ups and downs of the Young Bull, the somewhat disappointing sophomore campaign for Cedi Osman, hit on the return of the Thunder from Down Under, and mused about other goings on in the NBA universe. We did it all while occasionally tuning into the final throwdown between LeBron and DWade out in Los Angeles, and were rewarded when we got to see Kelly Olynyk get bucked in the jewels... good times indeed.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 188: Closer than The Score
06/12/2018 Duração: 01h40minNate Smith and David Wood went to the Pod Booth after the game to discuss the past couple Cavs games, who we think is making it to the Finals, trade spots for current Cavs, who we like in the West, new Cavalier Alec Burks, and much more.We get closer than the score on the Warriors game. who blew the Cavs out by 24 points. The game was close though, we swear. The Cavs finished the first-half on a 19-5 run hitting five 3s to be up six. The third quarter didn’t go as planned though, as the Warriors outscored the Cavs 37-22 behind 15 Kevin Durant points. By the time the fourth rolled around, Cleveland was done for and the Warriors just kept adding onto their lead.Rodney Hood led the Cavs early on getting 11 of his 15 points in the first quarter. Collin Sexton led the team in scoring with 21 points on on 7-14 shooting. He went 3-3 on 3s, including two during the Cavs big second quarter run. Tristan Thompson caught another double with 14 points and 19 boards. And, Cedi was probably the best all around Cavalier with

Episode 187: Off the Rails
27/11/2018 Duração: 01h37minNot sure the degree that Tom, Nate and EvilGenius actually captured the outcome of this Cavalier setback tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as the guys spent a large chunk of time debating the semantics of what transpired in the Browns game Sunday and the subsequent shade thrown by Baker Mayfield on his former coach today. Tom and EG were on diametrically opposed sides of the argument, while Nate was content to lob chaos grenades whenever the flames waned. (Fast Forward to the 15:40 mark if you want to skip to the Cavs' talk). One thing we could all agree upon ultimately, however, is that the Cavs have been playing much more inspired basketball of late. We discussed the turnaround that seemed to begin with the Lakers game, and continued through a back-to-back winning weekend for the wine & gold. We broke down the strides of individual players to measure the progress of Tristan Thompson, Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman and many others. And, we did get back on track at some point to delve into this co
