We all wondered why the hell Irving can't use a screen, why the Cavs even bother setting them for him, and how demoralizing it must be to play with him at times. Will he ever "get it?" Nate analyzed the win over the Hornets, I analyzed the win over the Hawks, we piled on Kyrie as much as we could, we played a very long game of Potent Perceptions that focused on defensive-minded but still elite lineups around the NBA and LeBron's incredible play of late. It was a mixed bag this week for the Cavs. During five games in seven nights: they whupped the Clippers, dropped an exhaustion game to the Jazz, blew a 19 points out of a 20 point lead to squeak by Dallas, dropped the Magic despite a 45 point night from Oladipo, and finally got their butts handed to them by the Heat on Saturday night. Ben Werth and I got in the podcast studio to discuss the week. A big topic of conversation was the coaching of Tyronn Lue and his defensive assistant Mike Longabardi: the rotations, the schemes, the sets, the timeouts and/or the lack thereof. The difficulty of coaching LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were topics of conversation, as was the problem of what to do with Kevin Love. After taking our lumps as Cavs fans this weekend, Tom and I limped to the podcast booth to discuss the Cavs' two point loss to Toronto and their thumping at the hands of the Washington Wizards. Man, it was a rough week to be a Cavs fan. After a resurgent streak of four games highlighted by a victory over the Spurs, the Cavs once again failed to be "galvanized by success," struggling against Indiana and losing to Charlotte and Boston. Slightly bolstered by a Friday pick-me-up against the Pelicans Ben, Tom, and I had lots to talk about on a Super Bowl Sunday night podcast. We discussed the Cavs' week, Kyrie's shooting and defensive struggles, basketball genius Matthew Dellavedova, and the "LeBron Tax" (more on that from Cory Hughey coming soon). We dove further down the well of purging and catharsis when we contemplated trading members of the 'Land Lords, unleashed our ire on anti-J.R. officials, held a referendum on Ty Lue, and measured the temperature of David Griffin's seat.
