We’re back, baby!  But really, were we ever really gone?  Not if you’re on our facebook fan page! 0:00 Introduction - Jake let’s us know how how the Superbowl has wrecked his fair city of Indianapolis, and I talk about how I got unduly angry at a magic 8 Ball.  Jacob and I also discuss the etymology of “weeaboo.” 14:58 Mail Call - Hey speaking about weeaboos, we created a small list of anime and manga recommendations for Punisher fans.  Some of the stuff I’m sure you’ve heard of, but   hopefully you can find some gems in our list.  Big thanks to Blackstone for the idea, and if you have some ideas of your own, post on the fan page or on the comments below!  We also answer a letter about the idea of a female Punisher, which has existed before and is being somewhat explored right now in Rucka’s Punisher.  We also have some minor news about Ann Nocenti. 52:02 Bullet Points - We review Punisher #7.  Marco Chechetto is back, and I couldn’t be happier.  Jake’s decompression argument starts to turn me, and overall we

Welcome back, Punisher fans!  We got quite a show for you today, as we look at a seminal Punisher story, in its past and present incarnations, as well as begin our pre-mourning over Punisher MAX coming to an end. 0:00 Introduction -  I bitch about the YMCA’s pricing policies and Jake shows how you can become father of the year as we discuss his guest spot on Will Strack’s Dad Wants a Section 8 podcast.  We also bring up some sweet Punisher news involving a new Marvel crossover called “The Omega Effect.” 13:52 Mail Call - We got the opposite of last show’s mail, which means a whole lot of nothing.  But we do have an offer for our fans, so listen in! 48:48 Bullet Points - We review Punisher MAX #21 and Punisher #7.  Tears are shed as we near the end of the MAX run, but we still find things to bitch about, like Vanessa becoming the new queen of New York via King of the Hill-style tactics.  In Greg Rucka’s comic, Jake and I argue about decompression and artistic license again, proving why you can’t have a math gu

Happy New Year, let’s get started.  Our contest has come to an end, and the winners are announced within the first minute of the podcast. 0:00 Introduction - Jacob and I talk about family and Christmas, and we also have an intervention on an apparent addiction of mine.  We also discuss the contest details, as well as how Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bastard child is a ticking time bomb. 19:50 Mail Call -Good lord, this Mail Call.  We go through a lot of topics here, such as the Punisher’s Island of Misfit Villains, Howard Chaykin, the Punisher’s guest appearance on the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, gun nuts who write corrections to the Punisher fan mail section, and so much more.  Remember people, large and in charge.Oh, we also deal with the continuity issues between Punisher 616 and MAX, which can be a headache if you make it one. 48:48 Bullet Points - We review the penultimate MAX issue of Aaron’s run, where Frank fights Elektra and the final tragic pieces fall into place for February’s issue.  Overall, it’s a great

    25/12/2011 Duração: 02h25min

Merry Christmas, guys!  Jake worked his butt off getting this thing edited to holiday perfection, so the least I can do is put it up on time.  This is The Barracuda Special, and Jake and I go on a marathon of 17 issues, all dealing with Frank’s most determined nemesis in the MAX run.  We review the good (Barracuda mini-series, Long Cold Dark), the average (Barracuda arc in MAX), and the comic that makes you wonder how badly Marvel needed money if they had to deal with Eminem. We here at Punisher: Body Count hope you have a great holiday break with your family and friends, and have a Happy New Year.

Hey everyone, have you gotten your shopping done yet?  No?  Good.  The adrenaline rush in the coming days will do you good.  This is a long show, so let’s try out a new format and you can pick what you want! 0:00 Introduction – Jacob and I describe our how the holiday season is treating us and then we bring up our Christmas family traditions, each with their own depressing twist.  We also give updates on the contest and tell you YOUR Christmas present, coming in just a few days! 11:28 Mail Call - Today we do something different, where we get Body Count fan Will Strack on the horn and we talk about the cult classic PS2 Punisher video game for far too long.  Check out Will’s podcast on iTunes, Dad Wants a Section 8. 31:31 Bullet Points - It’s a Christmas miracle in Greg Rucka’s Punisher #6, where there are two fill-in artists and yet the art is actually pretty great.  Rachel gets to kick some ass and Frank is a friend to the animals. 49:00 Flashbacks - We cover a lot of ground in Flashbacks today, starting with

  • Punisher: Body Count Episode 10

    22/11/2011 Duração: 01h44min

Welcome to episode 10, the big one oh, the numero uno plus goose egg.  We never expected our little podcast to do as well as it’s done in the short time it’s been around, but you fans have made it worth it, and we promise to keep making the podcast better than ever, starting now. For instance, we’re running our first contest to celebrate!  In today’s podcast, we ask three questions related to Frank Castle that we’ve brought up in our show.  Each question is linked to a different prize, but you can answer all of them to improve your chances at winning something (limit 1 prize). In today’s show, I give tips on how to make Atlantic City a non-miserable experience, and Jake brings up the aforementioned contest and how to enter.  We also learn that one of our loyal podcast listeners has a dog that got pretty injured, so if you can, check out his art site and send him some love and/or a commission.  We also discussed the upcoming Punisher TV show a bit in Mail Call, but no new info has come about for the show. If h

  • Punisher: Body Count Episode 9

    31/10/2011 Duração: 01h20min

Happy Halloween, Punisher fans.  Today we’re doing a slightly smaller episode, since no new Punisher comics have come out, but this is balanced out by the fact that it’s Halloween.  In today’s episode, we discuss how our own Halloween weekend has gone and Jake fails to make me think The Big Bang Theory is a good show.  He fails. We also discuss an interview we did with Trever Talbert, a great pipe maker, cartoonist, movie reviewer, and cool guy, where the audio file unfortunately got corrupted.  If you are a tobacco enthusiast please check out  his pipe gallery, and while you’re at it, check out his Kentucky Fried Popcorn blog, where he discusses weird and wacky movies. Afterwards, Jake and I go in-depth on the newly announced Punisher tv show.  We have incredibly mixed feelings about it, with us eventually siding on “It sounds terrible.”  In Flashbacks, we talk about a “classic” Punisher story, Punisher & Wolverine: Revelation which contained the second and last story about “Angelic Punisher.”  It’s a lo

  • Punisher: Body Count episode 8

    16/10/2011 Duração: 02h06min

Hey guys, Jake has… gone to a farm up in Maine, where he is very happy and will never be spoken of again.  We now welcome Wyatt Jones, long time listener, first time podcaster!  Surely, this will be the start of a long and rewarding relationship and Jake will never return.  Ever.  Today, we go through Rapidfire like champs, and then enter Bullet Points, where we talk about Punisher MAX #18 and Punisher #4, where Rucka is solid and Steve Dillon continues to raise the art bar to incredible heights. In Flashbacks, we review Punisher 2099 #1-3, where it was clearly made by 7 year old children who are amazing people.  Then we review the Marvel Knights Punisher 2099 one-shot, where we agree that even Kirkman can make a swing-and-a-miss.  In Discharge Papers, Jake and I confirm we are horrible people.

  • Punisher Body Count 7

    18/09/2011 Duração: 01h36min

Welcome to Punisher: Body Count numero siento, where the content is hilarious and the points don’t matter.  Within the first five minutes we have a very special announcement about a current guy working on Punisher right now, so stay tuned for that in the next episode!  We go through Mail Call and Rapid Fire like a fierce gazelle and we head into Bullet Points with equal grace.  There, we discuss mannish-looking women in Punisher MAX #3 and then discuss a villain that will surely not become part of Frank’s rogues gallery.  Next, we discuss Return to Big Nothing in the Flashbacks section and things kind of fall apart from there.  Listen, I’m not going to spoil anything for you, but you’ll either love our “discussion” or never listen to us again. Jake and I wrap things up in Discharge Papers talking about a Tim Burton classic and I harp on about the DC reboot, which surely no other comic podcaster has done before.

  • Punisher Body Count Episode 6

    05/09/2011 Duração: 01h45min

Welcome back to Episode 6 of Punisher Body Count, where the deaths keep coming and the points don’t matter!  In today’s podcast, Jacob has accomplished a goal that will surely ascend him to the valhalla of nerdom any day now.  After he lords his victory over us, we move on to Mail Call and I make an heart-felt apology.  Then we go into a new sub-segment called Rapid Fire and answer questions from 4chan’s /co/. Then we get into Greg Rucka’s Punisher #2 in Bullet Points, where we make some dark predictions and talk about how pretty Frank is.  Afterwards, we progress into Flashbacks where we discuss Spider-Man #161-162, with special guest Nightcrawler!  In it, we learn that Spider-Man is the true monster and when we learn who the villain is, we find out the true victims are the readers.  Finally, we spiral into our personal B.S. in Discharge Papers, where we discuss artistic liberties vis a vis cowboys and tommy guns. Keep the messages coming, and if you’d like to come on the show with us, contact us and we’ll m

  • Punisher: Body Count Episode 5

    02/08/2011 Duração: 01h46min

Welcome to the numero cinco of Punisher: Bodycount.  A lot of positive, yet hectic things have been going on in our personal lives, but much like herpes, a podcast as great as this can only be suppressed for so long.  In Bullet Points, we discuss the “Bullseye” arc to Jason Aaron’s Punisher MAX run, where we find discuss the handling of this well-known assassin, and Jacob gets really hung up on how the guy can hide his gun as well as he did. In Flashbacks, we celebrate the Captain America movie by discussing our opinions on the movie, and then talk about the 3-issue Cap/Punisher  team-up known as Blood and Glory.  If you read Tom Clancy novels or watch ’90s covert ops movies, then you already know what the story is about.  In Discharge Papers, we talk about Hobo with a Shotgun, Wilfred, Queen and Country, and, um, Power Rangers.  Listen it might be better for you guys to skip that part, but hey, it’s your call.

  • Punisher: Body Count episode 3

    22/06/2011 Duração: 01h48min

Here it is, the third episode, and the last for this month, because good god we have filled our libsyn storage limit.   In Mail Call, we discuss how Frank could work out as a golden age hero, and I give a short history lesson in MAX.  In Bullet Points, we catch up on Jason Aaron’s run in Punisher MAX, marveling at how solid the first arc is and reeling in horror at the nudity.  In Flashbacks,  we read Die Hard in the Big Easy, where you come for the cocaine, but stay for the stereotypes.  Seriously, Frank gets buried by voodoo priests who cut open a chicken and throw it in the casket with him.  It’s pretty great.  In Discharge Papers, we talk about Duke Nukem Forever, X-Men: First Class, the DC reboot, True Grit, and movies about kicking, but not all in that order. Next podcast we’ll focus on the “Bullseye” arc from MAX, but Flashbacks is up for grabs.  Suggest us some comics and if like ‘em, we’ll read ‘em!

    05/06/2011 Duração: 01h53min

In this podcast, we bring in a new segment called Mail Call, where we answer your questions and accusations that can’t be proven in the court of law.  We also hint at a future special guest, but that’s top secret for now.  In Bullet Points, we delve into Punisher MAX: From First to Last, chronicling three important moments in Frank’s life and try to understand the meaningless madness of Frank’s nightmare reality. And then we talk about guns that shoot barb wire in Flashbacks Punisher Summer Special #1.  With four stories to talk about, it’s a mixed bag, ranging from well played, to okay, to batshit insanity involving idiotic terrorist.  We wrap things up in Discharge Papers by bringing up our Professional Opinions™ about the DC reboot and give recommendations on high art.
