The disciples walked closely with Jesus but still didn’t grab the towel. We talk about how it’s possible to be around God, learn from Him, and still miss the heart of serving others. It’s easy to sit in church, learn, and grow, but never actually step into serving others.We talk about the difference between being a disciple and being a servant, the danger of becoming a “bloated Christian,” and how shifting your posture from consumption to service changes everything. Following Jesus isn’t just about what we receive, it’s about how we give.

Jesus knows that this is His last moment with them, He knew the power God had given Him, He knew that Judas would betray Him, and He knew the hearts of the Disciples. Yet with the radical nature of servant leadership He shows, it contrasts the disciples' prideful and arrogant hearts and attitudes. Jesus knelt down, and washed their feet. And He asks us to pass this posture of service on to others. To be at the service of God is to be at the service of others. We can never be too big for the small messes otherwise we become too small for the big things God wants to do in our lives. The practice of being a servant please God, fulfills our calling and brings blessing and happiness to our lives. So what are you going to do with the towel?
