Perhaps it's a bit presumptive of me to post this before the polls have closed, but the current polling suggests that Barack Obama has a healthy 11 point lead over John McCain, well over the margin of error.  If those stats are to be believed, then this country, for the first time in our history, will have put a black man in the Oval Office.  Even more significant, are the record 29 million votes already cast in early voting.  Coupled with all of the voting to take place today, this election has engaged Americans like no other election in history and is quite possibly one of the most memorable events of my lifetime.  If Michelle Obama was only recently proud of her country for the first time in her life, I can honestly say the same thing. Certainly, we approach that sentiment from a different perspective, but I understand the intolerance, the hatred, the bigotry behind those views.  As a disabled, gay American, I get it from all sects of society.  Nevertheless, I am a product of my Catholic conservative pare
