Big thought: In today’s world, workplaces desire for us to have two things. That is EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE. So many people strive to get the education but are then shot down for not having the experience. Today I’m going to show you some real and available options for you to, not only gain experience, but to begin making an impact in your community NOW. Volunteer Somewhere. Local Church. This is probably the easiest place to start (depending on your church) because there is a variety of areas that your can dip your toes into. Faith based organizations. No need to re-create the wheel! There are so many different ministries outside of the “church” that help and support people within the community. Secular organizations. This area has incredible potential because it has a great need and a unique aspect in the fact that you will have to get creative in how you present the gospel while ministering as a volunteer. Find a mentor More specifically, find an actual person to help mentor an

Big thought: An organization’s culture is built by the values that are either intentionally made or neglectfully allowed within the teams who are leading. With so many different personality traits and characteristics, what are some of the most valuable ones to have for your team? Authenticity. This boils down to trust and believing “who” you’re talking to. Teachability. This boils down to having emotional maturity and being able to be guided. Loyalty. This boils down to commitment and being willing to stick things out when times are confusing or difficult. Brokenness. This boils down to having a sense of experience and ability to overcome. Take away: Which single trait do you align with the most? Once you identify it, lead with it. Without limiting it to the four values discussed today, evaluate the individuals on your team and distinguish which single character value they each identify with the most. How can you practically start imparting these qualities within your team or organization? TAP

Big thought: In order to be effective, avoid burnout and be emotionally healthy, you must understand and recognize what season you're in. In this episode, Eric Campos shares shares some of the struggles and accomplishments he has faced over the last 13 years of being an active ministry leader.  Eric Campos has been in ministry for more than 10 years and has received multiple ministry certificates through internships/seminaries and an associates in ministry. He spent nearly half of his time in ministry as a children's pastor and the other half as a youth pastor. He currently serves at Living Stone Worship Center in Del Rio, TX. Big thought: Learning from someone else’s story and experiences catapults you forward if you apply the lessons that they learned. Desperation is what led me to change. Servanthood quickly turned into ministry. Hands on experience was the best way to learn how to do ministry. Showing up consistently is what promoted me to a place of positional authority. Clear, simple and obtainable vision is what made us successful in ministry. Spiritual Devotion is what made me sensitive enough for our next steps. Grit and aspiration is how we experience growth now. Take away: What stage of ministry or leadership are you currently in? What is it that you should focus doing right now? Ask someone close to you within your ministry or organization to sit down and discuss lessons learned from your own past. Most of us assume that people understand what we have communicated, and other times we assume that we don’t need to communicate because people already know. But more often than not, people feel confused and desire more clarity. Take away: List at least 3 areas of moments and times that are lacking communication in your team. If not sure, ask your team members. What is one thing that you need to start communicating to your team today? Is the culture of communication in your team healthy or unhealthy? Write down 3 values that you want to be in your team’s culture of communication.
