So many people strive to get the education but are then shot down for not having the experience. Today I’m going to show you some real and available options for you to, not only gain experience, but to begin making an impact in your community NOW. Volunteer Somewhere. Local Church. This is probably the easiest place to start (depending on your church) because there is a variety of areas that your can dip your toes into. Faith based organizations. No need to re-create the wheel! There are so many different ministries outside of the “church” that help and support people within the community. Secular organizations. This area has incredible potential because it has a great need and a unique aspect in the fact that you will have to get creative in how you present the gospel while ministering as a volunteer.     Big thought: An organization’s culture is built by the values that are either intentionally made or neglectfully allowed within the teams who are leading. With so many different personality traits and characteristics, what are some of the most valuable ones to have for your team? Authenticity. This boils down to trust and believing “who” you’re talking to. Teachability. This boils down to having emotional maturity and being able to be guided. Loyalty. This boils down to commitment and being willing to stick things out when times are confusing or difficult. Brokenness. This boils down to having a sense of experience and ability to overcome. Take away: Which single trait do you align with the most? Once you identify it, lead with it. Without limiting it to the four values discussed today, evaluate the individuals on your team and distinguish which single character value they each identify with the most.     Big thought: Learning from someone else’s story and experiences catapults you forward if you apply the lessons that they learned. Desperation is what led me to change. Servanthood quickly turned into ministry. Hands on experience was the best way to learn how to do ministry. Showing up consistently is what promoted me to a place of positional authority. Clear, simple and obtainable vision is what made us successful in ministry. Spiritual Devotion is what made me sensitive enough for our next steps.
