This short interactive session will equip you to contextually share the gospel cross culturally. You will leave this session with fresh ideas for this Christmas and in the year to come. The Rev. Mary Amendolia serves as Pastoral Associate for Evangelism at the Falls Church Anglican and is a Spiritual Director with Coracle. She trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, England and at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. While working at Heythrop College, University of London, Mary taught adults how to engage in interfaith dialog while she concurrently earned her M.A. in Christian Spirituality with a focus on the visual arts and spiritual transformation. Additionally, Mary holds a B.A. in Art History.

  • The New Federal Regulations on Overtime Pay and How They Will Affect Your Church

    Christine Lambrou Johnson, speaker. The U.S. Department of Labor has issued new regulations which will require churches to pay overtime for all employees paid less than a baseline annual salary of $47,476—that is a more than double increase from the old baseline of $23,660. This Rule, which takes effect on December 1, 2016, will have a significant impact on some of our churches. Christine Lambrou Johnson will share with us how the rule applies to Church employees and, in particular, which kinds of employees may be exempt from the regulations under the “ministerial exception.” Christine Lambrou Johnson is Of Counsel with Gammon & Grange, P.C. She is an experienced litigator with substantial expertise in labor and employment matters. She concentrates her practice on the day-to-day counseling of employers concerning their obligations under federal and state labor and employment law, on the resolution of employment disputes, and on business litigation generally.

  • Synod 2016 Our Fundamental Anglican Beliefs

    Gregory Strong, speaker. The Constitution of our Diocese calls for each member of Synod to affirm (and regularly reaffirm) the core theological affirmations of the Anglican Church in North America (called the “Fundamental Declarations” of the Province), as well as the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) Statement and the Jerusalem Declaration of 2008. This session will explore those key statements and what they mean for us personally and for our movement. Gregory Strong, a member of The Falls Church Anglican (TFCA), has a Ph.D. in theological and religious studies (Drew University), and an M.Div. (Trinity School for Ministry). He teaches Anglican Studies through Reformed Theological Seminary and theological education for lay people in a collaboration between TFCA and the Ridley Institute, St. Andrew’s Church, South Carolina.

  • Synod 2016 Morning Prayer Sermon

    The Rev. Jim Beavers was serving as Headmaster of Trinity Christian School (Fairfax) when he and his family visited Truro Church and discovered Anglicanism. In 1994, they and others were sent out from Truro to plant Christ the Redeemer with the Rev. Tom Herrick, where Jim served in several roles including Senior Warden and, later, part-time Chief of Staff. He earned an M.Div. from Trinity School for Ministry in 2009, and was ordained by Bishop Guernsey as a priest in the Anglican Church in North America that same year. Jim became vicar of Christ Anglican Fellowship (Orange, Virginia) in 2011. He also has served on the Standing Committee of the Diocese since it was first established.
