  • Hair loss explained by Trichologist Trevenen Glen Bam

    22/02/2016 Duração: 51min

There are many causes of scalp hair loss, and they do differ in men and women. Studies show that losing up to 100-150 hairs per day is normal. Human hair naturally grows in three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Anagen is the active or growing phase. In general, most hair loss is not associated with systemic or internal disease, nor is poor diet a frequent factor. Frequently, hair may simply thin as a result of predetermined genetic factors, family history, and the overall aging process. Many men and women may notice a mild and  often normal physiologic thinning of hair starting in their thirties and forties. Other times,  normal life variations including temporary severe stress, nutritional changes, and hormonal  changes like those in pregnancy, puberty, and menopause may cause reversible hair loss. • Clinical nutritionist, Nicci Robertson explain the relationship between Hormones and fat metabolism

    03/02/2016 Duração: 50min

Hormones play a key role in determining how efficiently we metabolise fat. Estrogen, progesterone, insulin, cortisol, thyroid, testosterone and adrenaline, unless in absolute balance will determine if we are fat storers or fat burners. Certain hormones determine where you store fat. Too much cortisol and you will accumulate belly fat. Estrogen dominance results in fat storage in the hips, thighs and buttocks. Balancing hormones is a specialist subject and takes time to perfect. Whether you are battling with menopausal weight gain, PMS, infertility or hypothyroidism there is a long term, permanent solution, based on proven nutritional and neutraceutical principles See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
